- Former Bangladeshi Army Chief and Politician Hussain Muhammad Ershad passed away at a hospital in Dhaka. He was 91-years.
- Ershad served as the President of Bangladesh from 1983 to 1990. On 24th April 1982, he seized power as Army Chief during a bloodless coup against President Abdus Sattar.
