- The Pink City of Jaipur made its entry into the UNESCO World Heritage Site list.
- The announcement was made after the 43rd Session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, underway at Baku (Azerbaijan) from 30th June to 10th July.
- In a tweet, PM Modi said "Jaipur is a city associated with culture and valor. Elegant and energetic, Jaipur's hospitality draws people from all over. Glad that this city has been inscribed as a World Heritage Site by @UNESCO."
- In a tweet, CM of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot said, "#Jaipur listed on the world map as #WorldHeritage site is not only a matter of prestige but it will give a boost to tourism. The local economy will benefit along with the improvement of infrastructure."
- UNESCO also added Iceland's Vatnaj-okull National Park, Europe's largest with a landscape of "fire and ice," to its World Heritage List.
