- The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has reappointed N.S Vishwanathan as its Deputy Governor for One year. The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has approved the extension of Vishwanathan's term.
- His tenure was to end 3rd July. Vishwanathan is in charge of regulation of banks, non-banking finance companies, and cooperative banks.
- He was appointed on 28th June 2016, by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet. He replaced H.R. Khan, whose term ended on 4th July 2016.
