- The 12th Chief Minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh (age 58 years) inaugurated the 3-day 'Orange Festival' in Tamenglong district.
- The Manipur government under the sponsorship of the North Eastern Council organizes this festival every year to promote the fruit and encourage its growers.
- Out of 16 districts, Tamenglong is the largest orange producer district in Manipur.
