- The Chairman of Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) Shri Braj Bihari Kumar died. In May 2017, He was appointed as the ICSSR Chairman.
- ICSSR is the national body overseeing research in the social sciences in India. It was established in New Delhi in 1969.
