- The appointment committee of the Asian Development Bank has unanimously elected the Masatsugu Asakawa as its new President.
- Asakawa is currently a special advisor to Shinzo Abe (Japanese Prime Minister) and to Taro Aso (Finance Minister of Japan).
- He replaced Takehiko Nakao, who was the 9th President of ADB.
- Masatsugu Asakawa will assume the office as 10th President of ADB in next year on 17th January 2020.
