- Every year on 2nd December National Pollution Control Day (NPCD) is observed across the nation in the memory of people who lost their lives in Bhopal Gas Tragedy on 2nd December 1984.
- The objectives of this day are to spread awareness of managing and controlling industrial disasters, Prevent the pollution produced by industrial processes or human negligence.
- Bhopal Gas Tragedy is considered one of the biggest industrial pollution disasters. Due to this, many people died due to poisonous gas Methyl Isocyanate also known as MIC.
