- Indian - American teenager won the title after correctly spelling the word ‘Flipe’. Murali has become the first winner “on an APPEAL”, in the spelling history.
- The South Asian Spelling Bee Competition is an annual spelling bee platform in the US for children of South Asian descent. The competition is open to any student at or below the age of 14.
- The Spelling Bee Contest was held in 5-centers- New Jersey, Washington, DC, Dallas, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Charlotte.
