Renowned Palani panchamirtham won the GI tag


  • The renowned Palani panchamirtham, is given as ‘Prasadam’ at Arulmigu Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple in Palani, Tamil Nadu state, won the Geographical Indication (GI) tag.
  • This is the first time that a Hindu Temple gets the GI tag for its 'Prasadam'.
  • The famous Palani panchamirtham is made up of- Banana, Cow Ghee, Cardamom, Jaggery, and Honey. And, it prepares by the employee of the temple for devotees, who came to temple. Dates & sugar candies are added to it for extra flavors.
  • The Geographical Indication or commonly say GI tag is a sign used on certain products that had a specific geographical origin (e.g. a town, region, or country).
