- Assam government will launch a Wage Compensation scheme for Pregnant Women in tea gardens of the state. Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the scheme will provide better health and nutrition supplements to the pregnant women.
- An amount of 12 thousand rupees will be given to the pregnant woman so that she could take care of herself and unborn baby without compromising the livelihood of her family. The scheme will be launched on the 1st of October.
- The compensation of wages to pregnant women will be given in 4 installments. The scheme is likely to reduce and maternal and neonatal mortality in the tea areas.
