National Teachers Day 2018: 5th September

National Teachers Day is observed every year on 5th September to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli
Radhakrishana, the 1st Vice-President (26 Jan 1952 - 12 May 1962), and the 2nd President (14 May 1962 - 13 May 1967) of independent India.
On this day, The GoI give the prizes to meritorious teachers working in Primary, Middle and Secondary Schools.
The Teacher Awards instituted in 1958 carry a Silver Medal, a Certificate, and a cash price of Rs.50,000/-.
