  • She was born on 21 February 1950 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
  • Sahle-Work will replace Mulatu Teshome who resigned in unclear circumstances.
  • She was elected president unanimously by members of the Federal Parliamentary Assembly on 25 October 2018.
  • Previously, she was serving as Special Representative of UN Secretary-General and Head of the UN Office to the African Union at the level of Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations.
