- The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Edappadi K Palaniswamy has announced that sportspersons would be given 3% sub-quota in recruitments. In a function organized jointly by sports associations in Chennai on Tuesday evening, he said the sub-quota will be extended for recruitments in Government Departments and public sector undertakings.
- He said a panel led by the state Chief Secretary has been formed to look into the ways of implementing the promise made by him in his Independence Day Address of providing two percent reservation for sportspersons.
- He asked the panel to study how to implement three-percent sub-quota following the new decision now. Various sports associations have welcomed the decision.
