1. The Assam government is to provide 1 lakh shallow tube wells to small and marginal farmers. Taking part in an AIR talk show tonight, Agriculture Director M S Manivannan said that up to 85 percent subsidy would be given to the farmers.
2. He said that 11 thousand solars, 60 thousand diesel and 30 thousand electric shallow tube wells to be distributed within this year. The Director also said that the distribution of shallow tube wells would help in irrigating farmland.
3. Mr. Manivannan also said that the Assam government decided to give the premium of the Pradhan Mantri Faisal Bima Yojna on behalf of the farmers. He also said that massive awareness drives to be carried out on both the schemes to double farmers income by 2022.
