Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the nation its first smart and green highway - the Eastern Peripheral Highway in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh. The 135-kilometer expressway access with 6 lanes is environmentally friendly and has world-class safety functions.
It provides for a seamless connection between Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gautam Budh Nagar and Palwal. It was built at a price of 11,000 crore rupees. This is the first highway in India, which should be illuminated by solar energy, except in cases of rainwater harvesting.
