India is the third largest electricity producer in the world, as its electricity generation grew by 34% in seven years to 2017. At present, the country produces more energy than Japan and Russia, which is 27% and 8.77% more than the installed capacity for electricity generation compared to India seven years ago. Electricity production in the period from April 2017 to January 2018 amounted to 1,003.525 billion Units, according to the report of the Indian Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF) of February 2018, the trust established by the Ministry of Trade.
