Amarnath Yatra Begins with Tight Security


For the Amarnath yatra, the first batch of pilgrims left from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on Wednesday morning in a multi-layered security circle. This first batch of the passengers has left two base camps of Kashmir from Baltal and Pahalgam. This group has a total of 1904 devotees, including 1554 men, 320 women and 20 children. Given the danger of terrorist attack, security arrangements have been tightened.

These passengers will arrive in Baltal and Gandhinagar in Kashmir, Nunwan in Anantnag, Pahalgam base camp. After which the pilgrims will leave for the Cave temple at an altitude of 3880 meters on foot the next day. This will start the pilgrimage. The end of the journey will be on August 26.

Jammu Kashmir Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam, two advisers of the Jammu and Kashmir Governor Vijay Kumar and Bibi Vyas gave a green signal before the Amarnath Yatra and left for Jammu to visit the camp.
