The latest global Environmental Performance Index (EPI) rankings, India has ranked 177th among 180 countries in the Environmental Performance Index. This is especially worrying because two years ago, India's rank was 141.
This index was developed by the Yale University and Columbia University in collaboration with the World Economic Forum and the Joint Research Center of the European Commission. The Environmental Performance Index (EPI) is calculated on the basis of data collected from 24 separate indicators of environmental efficiency.
This ranking is issued annually by the World Economic Forum. Switzerland is on top of the list while France is in second place and Denmark is in third place.
