Indo-US Delegation Meeting on Bilateral Defense Cooperation


1. As part of Indo-US Bilateral Defence Cooperation, the 7th Defence Technology and Trade Initiative (DTTI) meeting was held between India and the US delegation here today. The meeting was co-chaired by, Secretary (Defence Production), Dr. Ajay Kumar and Under Secretary of Defence for Acquisition and Sustainment, DoD, US Government Ms. Ellen M Lord.
The meetings are held twice a year, alternately in India and the USA with the aim to bring sustained leadership focus to the bilateral defense trade relationship and create opportunities for co-production and co-development of defense equipment.

2. Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is planning to deploy a rover on the lunar surface through a Chandrayaan-2 mission. The instruments on Rover will conduct an in-situ analysis of elements such as Na, Mg, Al, Si, etc; in the vicinity of a landing site. Mining and extracting Helium-3 deposits is not planned. Total approved cost of the Chandrayaan-2 Mission is Rs.603.00 crores.

3. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the implementation of Centrally Sponsored-Scheme for completion of 83 Minor Irrigation projects and 8 major/ medium irrigation projects of Marathwada, Vidharbha and drought-prone areas of the rest of Maharashtra.
