PM Modi Lays Foundation Stone for Poorvanchal Expressway in Azamgarh

1. The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today laid the Foundation Stone of the Poorvanchal Expressway in Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. The Prime Minister said that the 340-kilometer longPoorvanchal Expressway would transform the towns and cities that it passes through. It would also provide swifter connectivity between Delhi and Ghazipur, he added. He said new industry and institutions can develop along the Expressway. He said the Expressway would also boost tourism in the places of historical significance in the region.

2. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has constituted a 10 Member Committee, headed by the Secretary of Ministry of Corporate Affairs, for review of the penal provisions in the Companies Act, 2013 may be set up to examine ‘de-criminalisation’ of certain offenses.

3. Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, Chief of the Naval Staff, Nigerian Navy is visiting India from 16 to 19 July 2018 along with a four-member Nigerian Navy delegation. The visit aims to consolidate bilateral naval relations between India and Nigeria, as also to explore new avenues for naval cooperation.

4. US & Russian President - Donald Trump & Vladimir Putin 1st summit at Helsinki, Finland. Donald Trump meeting with Russian President comes days after a federal grand jury indicted 12 Russian intelligence officials on charges of hacking the servers of the Democratic National Committee and that of its 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

5. On the basis of the result of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2018 held on 03/06/2018, the candidates with the following Roll Numbers have qualified for admission to the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2018.

6. Indian Railways and Maha-Metro (Metro Railway Project Company of Maharashtra) today signed a MoU for linking railway line to Metro coaches on broad gauge network & creating a Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) in Nagpur city.
