  • In India 29 August celebrated as National Sports Day each year, this day marks the birthday of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand Singh.
  • Dhyan Chand was born in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh on 29-08-1905.
  • In his career, he wins gold medals in Olympics (1928, 1932 and 1936) for India, and score around 400 goals from 1926 to 1948.
