Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said on 3rd April that the direct tax collection in the financial year 2017-18 has been Rs 10,02,607 crore, which is 18 percent higher than the previous financial year.
Jaitley said that the ban on taxation and commodity and service tax (GST) has made the economy a high level of formality, thereby increasing direct tax revenues and income tax return filing has also increased sharply.
